University of Newcastle

Located in Newcastle, New South Wales and founded in 1965, the University of Newcastle (UON) is also sometimes referred to as Newcastle University. It is known for many things, among them, its UON Medical School which uses the problem based learning system that was so successful it was mandated by the Australian Medical Council for Australia. 
Moreover, University of Newcastle also pioneered the Undergraduate Medicine and Health Sciences Admission Test, (UMAT) in the early 1990’s. Since it was created and implemented, the test has been widely accepted by different medical schools in Australia as an extra selection criterion.
